Jay Hunt Kicks Off Our PT Q&A Series
Welcome to our weekly Q&A at MyFreshBox, where we will be talking to a different client and Personal Trainer or Fitness Expert each week. A lot of our clients are in the body building and weight-lifting industry and have customised plans with ourselves to help them get the right macronutrients and balanced diet that they need to help maintain body mass and continue to build lean muscle.
This week is Jay Hunt, who is a personal trainer from South Liverpool. The 22 year old has always been into sports and fitness, starting as a child when he was massively into football, following his local, boyhood side Everton FC. Jay’s been a personal trainer now for 2 years, progressing from starting off in a small sized studio doing one to one sessions, to taking on numerous clients at one of the best rated gyms in the city, Prophecy Performance Centre located in Speke. Jay plans on going back to university to further his education and allow him to progress in the fitness industry.
What is your favourite exercise?
Probably deadlifts, mainly because it covers most the body
What muscle do you consider to be the most important to be trained on?
Legs, the foundations of the body. Also looks daft when you see people big up top with no legs.
What’s your favourite pre workout meal / snack?
I don’t usually eat before I train so I’ll just usually have a pre-workout supplement, or some sort of caffeine to get me going.
What’s your favourite post workout meal / snack?
After working out a carb loaded meal like a pasta, chicken and rice etc. I started getting the pancakes from MFB and they were a great for post workout.
What’s your favourite MyFreshBox dish?
Has to be one of the curries. Either Thai green turkey or lamb massaman curry
What’s your favourite cheat dish?
I love meat. So a big calorie dense mixed grill would be my go to cheat dish
How many times a week do you train?
I have just changed my training plan from a push/pull/legs 6 days per week to a muscle group split 5 days per week.
How do you deal with sugar / junk food cravings?
For me fizzy drinks were always the issue. So a good change is zero calorie or sugar free alternatives on normal fizzy drinks.
What is the best diet to follow for losing weight?
The best diet is your diet, whatever you think works for you. This is how I work with my clients, let’s see what you can be sustainable with and adapt it. Make sure you’re in a calorie deficit though and be consistent and you’ll see results.
What and when should I eat around my workouts?
Eating around my workouts - Similar to the last question I think it’s more what works for you. For example, I don’t eat before my training. However other people may struggle or need the fuel to maximise their training performance. Also, I think it depends on the goals of the individual.
